The snow trip I was looking forward to was canceled due to bad weather conditions, so we had to go to Snow Planet which is an indoor snow course. We gathered at the MIT Student Village shuttle and left for North shore which is an hour drive away from here, passed the city and saw the country side for once. There were horses running wild and cows grazing off the green pasture. I loved how green New Zealand is, no pollution and traffic, nature at its best.
Once we arrived it was already 7pm, we only had 3 hours of skiing and snowboarding. So we hasten to get our gears on, I digress, wanted to post pictures for you guys to see but there was no camera allowed, and my internet services provided was acting up on me thus not being able to load pictures I had taken outside. I eventually managed to sneak some pictures in, wonder why though. I went for snowboarding which was harder because both of my legs were strapped on to the board. I fell like mad, but once I got a hang of it, came the problem of stopping from a high velocity. So I just copied what others did and learn from there, it was a blast when I finally got a hang of it. The course was 200 meters long and 50 meters wide, separated into two for beginners and advance. I went to the top, prayed and slide down, I was going so fast that when I had to stop, I sat down on my ass. My pants was frozen and so was my gloves, lucky I had proper gear, others were laughing at me and a few others for dressing so thick, when we went on the snow they were all freezing, And I was so warm and comfortable, I could just fall over and roll in the snow, shame on them for laughing at me!
It was so funny when they were asking me, “WHY CANT I MOVE?!” when they were in the flat surface. “Try going on a slop maybe?”. It was so cold that one girl actually left the course and slept in the shuttle cause it was so cold, poor soul paid NZ50 to sleep in the shuttle, and a few others quit after half an hour or so cause they kept falling over. In the end it was just me and Junior tearing up the snow, and his wife my SR (Senior Resident).
Highlight of the day:
1-The flying China man
This one chinese dude tryin to act pro and jump on a ramp, he landed flat on his back! >.< He got the wind knocked out of him and they had to pull a stretcher out for him, I was laughing my ass off cause I saw him in the newbie course not knowing how to stop and he went for the ramps which was in the pro area. I was talking to his girl friend after I had a fall, and she went “OH MY GOD!!!” in the middle of our conversation and that’s when I saw a Chinese guy landed hard flat on his back!
2-Screaming China lady
Stuff like this don’t happen on a daily basis, I was so happy I came to NZ after I saw it. This Chinese lady was screaming her lungs out going “ AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! OMG OMG OMG” as I was climbing up the snow hill, she came to a stop after rolling over 3-5 times. Hair all full of snow and I said to the NZ lady “Did that just happen?!” Me and her laughed out loud, till we drop.
3-SR Mayday
This was even funnier when my SR had the same thing happen to her like the Chinese lady but the way she came to a stop was totally different. Because she was about to crash into the wall which was at the end of the track a few meters away but instead crashed into a skier. “Move away~!!!” *BANG* both skiers was seeing stars. Me and Junior was laughing like mad as we 3 were the last to leave the snow.
I started from the top like a pro, and fell like a newbie. Trip was worth every penny in the end, we had pizzas and drinks at the lounge before we left for home. The next day I woke up with sore abs and neck due to all the falling from the trip.
